The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a recall on Pro-Pet cat and dog food because of salmonella fears. Food manufactured during a two-day period may be contaminated, according to the company.

The food was sold in the following states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, North Carolina, North Dakota, Nebraska, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin and West Virginia. The affected dog products are:

40 lb Hubbard Life Happy Hound Dog Food, best by 05 06 14, Lot 096 13 SM L2 2A, UPC 1219033878

The following products are now affected: 100% Chicken Treat, lot # Jun 2 2013; 100% Chicken Treat, lot # Jun 3 2013; 100% Chicken Breast Treat, lot # Jun 4 2013; 100% Chicken Treat, lot # Jun 15 2013; 100% Chicken Treat, lot # Jul 8 2013; 100% Chicken Treat, lot # Jul 11 2013; and 100% Teriyaki Chicken Treats, lot # 132881.

Georgia-based Bailey's Choice has recalled its chicken dog treats for potential salmonella contamination. The affected products are chicken dog treats marked with lot number 132881 and a Feb. 2014 expiration date. Five ounce bags of chicken jerky that have June 5 2013 as the lot number are also being recalled.

Joey's Jerky Chicken Jerky dog treats have been recalled after 21 people contracted salmonella. The treats in question come from Kritter's Kitchen Kreations in Loudon, New Hampshire, and were sold at six stores in that state.

The New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services announced the recall after 21 people came down with the same salmonella strain, very possibly due to handling the treats.

Nestle Purina PetCare Company has voluntarily recalled some 3.5 pound bags of Purina One beyOnd dog food. The affected food is Purina ONE beyOnd Our White Meat Chicken & Whole Barley Recipe Adult Dry Dog Food.

This recall is taking place because one bag of the dog food was found to be contaminated with salmonella. The recalled dog food affected has the following information: 3.5 lb. bags with best by date/production code 31071083 and UPC codes 17800 or 12679. The best by date/production code is on the bottom of the bag.

Stop feeding this food if you have it in your house, and return it for a refund. There's more information on this page on the Purina website, and you can call Purina at 1-800-473-8546, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Proctor and Gamble has just recalled several lots of its Eukanuba and Iams dry dog and cat food because of potential salmonella contamination. Check the press release here for a full list of the recalled foods, which is quite lengthy.

The press release has instructions on how to get a refund if you have any of the affected food. For more information on this voluntary recall, call P&G at 800-208-0172 Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern time.

Dogswell voluntarily recalled its chicken and duck jerky treats after the New York State Department of Agriculture & Markets found that Dogswell Happy Hips Chicken Jerky contained trace amounts of antibiotic residue not approved for use in the United States.

The recall covers both the Dogswell and Catswell brands. The chicken and duck jerky was sold under the Breathies, Happy Heart, Happy Hips, Mellow Mut, Shape Up, Veggie Life, Vitality, and Vitakitty brands. The "Best Before" date is on or before January 28th, 2015. Products with later dates are not part of the recall.

The Robert Abady Company has recalled two of its frozen dog food products that were distributed to stores and kennels in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and New York due to potential salmonella contamination. You can find more information in a PDF document on the company website.

The affected products are Abady Frozen High Stress/High Performance Dog Food and Abady Frozen Growth Formula for Puppies of the Large and Giant Breed. Both of these foods were sold in frozen three pound packages. The voluntary recall is the results of an FDA test that came up positive for salmonella.

Natura issued a recall for all of its dog foods and treats/biscuits with expiration dates prior to June 10, 2014. The recall includes the brands EVO, Innova, HealthWise, California Natural, Mother Nature, and Karma.

This recall is in response to an FDA test in April that showed salmonella in a product manufactured on April 3. Although there was only one positive test, the company is issuing the recall as a precaution.

Great Life Performance Pet Products has asked retailers to pull two products from store shelves. Great Life Grain Free Buffalo and Dr. E's Grain Free Buffalo are not recalled, but the company issued a voluntary withdrawal because of a strange smell.

Great Life says the products aren't staying fresh through their expiration date. However, it says that recent lab tests show the food has no salmonella, E coli, or micro toxin contamination.

Natura has expanded its recent recall to cover more products. It now includes all of the company's dog and cat food and treats with expiration dates up to and including March 24, 2014 in the Innova, EVO, Karma, HealthWise, and California Natural brands. Breeder’s Choice voluntarily recalled its Active Care Healthy Joint Dog Treats because mold was present. The mold only affects a single lot of these dog biscuits.

The recalled Breeder’s Choice Active Care Healthy Joint Treats have Product Code/SKU/ Material # BCP-080 and UPC Code 0130104895. The packages are 24 ounces, and the Best Before Code is 19-Dec-2013. If you have these treats, return them for a refund.

According to the PetMD website, six lots of Iverhart Plus Flavored Chewables heartworm pills have been voluntarily recalled by Vibrac, the maker of the product.

The lots included in the recall are: Lot 120076 (Large 51-100 pounds), Lot 120086 (Large 51-100 pounds), Lot 120856 (Large 51-100 pounds), Lot 120202 (Medium 26-50 pounds), Lot 120196 (Small up to 25 pounds), and Lot 120844 (Small up to 25 pounds).

PetMD says the ivermectin in the recalled lots doesn't meet stability specifications for the life of the product. The medication might not fully protect dogs from heartworm if they're in the upper third of the weight ranges.

Bravo has expanded its March dog and cat food recall as a precaution. The pet products in question did not test positive for salmonella, but they were made on the same day and the day after a product that come up positive.

The recalled products are: item #21-405 - 5 lb chub (tube) of Bravo! Chicken Balance frozen raw diet with "best used by" dates of 3-6-15 or 3-12-15 printed on the package's plastic casing; item # 21-102 - 2 lb. chub (tube) of Bravo! Chicken Blend frozen raw diet with a "best used by" date of 3-21-15 printed on the package's plastic casing; and item # 51-508 - 5 lb. bag of Bravo! Beef Blend Burgers with the "best used by dates" of 3-21-15 or 3-22-15 printed on the plastic bag's back panel.

Barf World has recall three of products for potential salmonella contamination. The raw frozen dog foods included in this recall are Barf Lamb Patties, Barf Combo Patties, and bulk packs of Barf Combo Patties. The recalled dog foods have a July 27, 2013, "use by" date.

Petsmart has voluntarily withdrawn Iams Shakeables turkey and lamb dog treats due to potential mold growth. The treats are small nuggets that come in cans.

The withdrawn turkey treats come in six ounce containers with the following lot numbers: [2342]419715A, [2325]419715A, [2331]419715A, [2332]419715A, [2341]419715A, [3016]419715A, [3017]419715A, [3018]419715A, [3046]419715A.

The affected Iams Shakeables lamb treats are also in six ounce containers that have lot number [2338]419715A.

Natura Pet recalled select dog and cat foods in its Innova, EVO, California Natural, HealthWise product lines because of possible salmonella contamination.

Bravo! has recalled a limited amount of its Raw Frozen Diet Chicken Blend food for dogs and cats. The affected two-pound tubes were made on June 14, 2012.

The product code of the recalled food is 21-102, and the batch ID code is 6 14 12. The tubes may be affected by salmonella because the Minnesota Department of Agriculture found contamination when it tested a batch. Bravo! says the food was tested by an independent laboratory before being sent to retailers and did not have any salmonella.

Diggin' Your Dog has voluntarily recalled a lot of its Strippin' Chicks Pet Treats that were made on 8-30-12 because of potential salmonella contamination. The recalled products are five ounce bags with lot code 250322 and a Use By Date of 2-23-14.

Steve's Real Dog Food voluntarily recalled five-pound bags of its Turducken Canine Diet (8-ounce patties) that were distributed between Oct. 2012 and Jan. 2013. The recall involves the company's July 27, 2012, production run. You can find out more about it on the Food and Drug Administration website.

The recall was prompted by the possibility of salmonella contamination after the Minnesota Department of Agriculture determined that one bag had "the potential for contamination" during a routine sampling.

The recall involves 40 cases, consisting of 240 bags or 1,200 pounds of patties. The affected bags have lot number B-209-10-27-13 and Oct. 27, 2013 as the "best before" date. The recalled product was The product was distributed by Holistic Pet Source in Nashville, TN; PFX Pet Supply in Cumberland, RI; Newco in Rancho Cucamonga, CA; and Solid Gold Northland in MN to retailers in California, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, New York, Minnesota and Tennessee.

Hy-Vee has recalled dog food that may be contaminated with a chemical found to kill dogs in the past. The toxin aflatoxin was found in food samples tested by the Iowa Department of Agriculture at higher than normal levels. The chemical is commonly found in corn.

The food in question was made for Hy-Vee by Pro-Pet, LLC and sold in stores in Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin between October 26, 2012, and January 11, 2013.

Jones Natural Chews has voluntarily recalled 245 boxes of its Woofers beef patties. A routine test by the Colorado Department of Agriculture Feed Program found salmonella in the product.

Kasel Associates has recalled all its dog treats made between April 20 and September 19, 2012. The treats have a two-year shelf life and include products sold at major retailers like Target, Sam's Club, and Petco.

The treats, which are made in America, tested positive for salmonella in multiple tests. The FDA has received reports of dogs becoming ill after eating them, although no human illness was reported.

Nature's Variety has recalled a batch of its Instinct Raw Organic Chicken Formula For Dogs & Cats because some packages might contain plastic pieces. This could pose a choking hazard to pets.

The recalled batch has a 10/4/13 "Best if Used By" date. This voluntary recall includes Hartz Chicken Chews Soft and Tenders in 3.5, 8, 16, 20 and 24 ounce packages; Hartz Chicken Chews Soft and Tender Bite Sized treats in 5.7 and 16 ounce packages; and Hartz Oinkies Pig Skin Twists wrapped with Chicken in 5, 7, 15 and 20 packs. Cadet Brand Chicken Jerky Treat products and Publix Chicken Tenders Dog Chew Treats are being voluntarily recalled because they possibly contain trace amounts of antibiotic residue.

The UPC on the Publix treats, which is located on the package's back right-hand corner, is 41415-18527. The recalled treats come in a 3.5 ounce bags. They were sold in Publix grocery stores in Florida, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina and Tennessee. Return them for a full refund and call 800-242-1227 for more information.

Finds of trace amounts of antibiotic residue by the New York Department of Agriculture prompted the voluntarily recall of several types of dog treats. Milo's Kitchen has recalled its Chicken Grillers and Chicken Jerky treats, while Nestle Purina has recalled Waggin' Train and Canyon Creek Ranch treats.
